JAMES BERRETH
13-14 Teener Coach

With the heart of a lion, the fiery James Berreth will be in his third season as the head coach of the 13-14 Teeners.

Last season, the 13-14 Teeners had an excellent regular season, going 25-14 and winning the Aberdeen Invitational. The state tournament started out on a good note, but Post 8 lost its last two games of Pool Play, failing to make Sunday's final four.

Berreth's first team of 13-14's went through a year of ups and downs, compiling a 17-22 mark. Despite their struggles, and a 31-15 loss in the opening game of pool play, Berreth's team won game two and dropped a 13-11 decision to Brandon Valley in which the winner would advance to the state semifinals.

Before his coaching days, Berreth spend four seasons in the Post 8 program, playing two years of Teeners and then two years of Legion. During his Post 8 Legion career, Berreth hit .275 with 36 runs batted in.

Known for his work ethic and determination, Berreth became a natural to remain in the program on the coaching side of things. An example of his work ethic is the spring of 2005, when Berreth ran track and played baseball at Mount Marty.

Along with playing, Berreth also worked four years as an umpire for little league baseball in Pierre.

Berreth is the son of Albert and Marsha Berreth of Pierre.
