Region 3A Legion pairings announced
(07.02.05) -- Pierre Post 8 may have won two games on Friday, but their greatest win was the draw they received in the 2005 Region 3A Tournament, to be held July 27-30 at Pete Lien Field in Rapid City.
Post 8 will draw a bye in the tournament, the best draw of anyone in the five-team event. Pierre will play game three of the tournament on Thursday, July 28, at 5:30 p.m. Mountain versus the winner of Belle Fourche and Spearfish.
The opening game between Belle and Spearfish will be Wednesday night at 7:30 MDT. Sturgis and Rapid City Post 320 will then play on Thursday at 2 p.m., preceeding Post 8's first game.
Should Post 8 win their opening game, they would play at 2 p.m. on July 29, and a win there would put them in the Region 3A Title game, and more importantly gain them a berth in the State Championship Tournament.
Rapid City Post 22 is the host of this year's state tournament, so they are exempt from the region. The Region 3A Champion will play the B Champion in the first round of state, while the Region 3A runners up play the runners up from Region 1A (Huron, Aberdeen, Watertown, Brookings, Aurora). Region 2A consists of Sioux Falls West, Sioux Falls East, Yankton, Mitchell and Valley Springs.
