The 6th Annual Kris Stephens Memorial Tournament will move to June this season, and be just a two day event - Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17.

The event will feature four teams -- Mitchell's A Teeners, the Rapid City Post 320 Shooting Stars, and the Platte A Teeners will join the Pierre Post 8 Split Squad.

The tournament is named in memory of the former KCCR Sports Director, who was at the station from 1991 until his death, losing his battle to cancer on August 5, 2001. Stephens loved sports, especially baseball, and provided play-by-play for games even before the press box was installed at Hyde Stadium in 1994.

Stephens' wife, Nancy, and his daughter, Sara, were presented with a plaque commemorating the inaugural event in 2001.

 1:30 - Pierre Split Squad  vs.  Platte A Teeners
 4:00 - THIRD PLACE GAME
 6:30 - CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

*The championship game was rained out, so the Rapid City Post 320 JV and the Sturgis JV played the opening game of a doubleheader the following Thursday for the championship, with Post 320 winning the inaugural crown.
